Dietary modification and eating a gluten free diet is still the first and most effective treatment for Celiac disease. Celiac disease is an autoimmune and digestive disorder in which gluten-containing food causes inflammation in small intestine of people along with host of other symptoms.
What is gluten? Gluten is a protein found in grains like wheat, barley, oats, rye, etc.
So, essentially, eating a gluten free diet is the main treatment for people with celiac disease. However, it is easier said than done and many people find it difficult to switch over. Also, people are not aware of many hidden sources of gluten.

For example, while fresh poultry is allowed, breaded or marinated chicken is not, for it is now contaminated with bread.
